I particularly appreciate the “no sign of human like consciousness” line, as I’m a staunch believer that no matter how programmatically sophisticated and computationally powerful, our approach toward building artificial intelligence will never yield such a thing, absent a million or so generations of fitness-based evolution informed by real-world life, death, and reproduction with mutation. That is, consciousness is — and can only reasonably be — a product of natural selection.
